Contents |
Creating a page
Most of this section will reference information about characters, if you need any further help. Please contact Jerric Athepra via the forums or U2U messenger.
Naming the page
First thing is naming the page. While you may already have a page name in mind, please remember that with the wiki we try to ensure everything is formatted similar, creating a easy to use environment. For characters, ensure that you use the first and last name only as the page title. If you want to reference your character by last name, first name, or even a nickname; This is shown in the wikimarkup help. (Click here to learn more)
Creating the new page
Great! You know what you want your page name to be! Enter the page name exactly into the search bar. As pointed out in the image below.
Begin editing
Now, if you chose a unique page name, it will show you a screen similar to the one below. Click the red link that is pointed out in the picture
Editing the page
As previously mentioned, we try to keep things formatted similar. If this is a character most of the setup has been done for you! Just copy and paste the below information into your new page. For detailed information on how to edit a page go to the Help:Editing page.

Updating the information
Now you have the basic structure of the page setup. From here just change all the question marks(?) to your character's information. You will notice that there is a picture field. We will get to that later in the tutorial. (Skip to image uploading)
The individual sections of your new page have descriptions of what you could place inside them. If your character has not been developed to that level, there is no need to worry. Just delete that section and on a long enough timeline, you will have the information for them later.
Verifying the information
After updating all the fields, ensure that the page looks how you want (with the exception of the image). To do this, click on preview as shown in the picture below and verify all the information you changed.
Saving the page
This is it! The fruits of your labor. If you are pleased with how your new page looks, scroll to the bottom click the button depicted in the picture below. If needed, feel free to edit the page further.
Updating a page
As with all information, it changes overtime. With this you may find it necessary to edit a page. However be warned that vandalism is not tolerated and we will take appropriate measures to ensure it does not happen. With that some pages have been restricted from being edited.
Opening the editor
Navigate to the page you wish to edit. From there click on the edit button located at the top of the page. (As seen in the picture below)
Verifying the information
After updating the page, verify the changes look correct. To do this, click on preview as shown in the picture below and verify all the information you changed.
Saving the page
This is it! The fruits of your labor. If you are pleased with how your the page looks, scroll to the bottom click the button depicted in the picture below. If needed, feel free to edit the page further.
Uploading a picture
So you've created the page, but now you want to change images! Fair enough, most characters don't look like question marks anyway or carry swords for that matter.
Creating the image location
There are many ways to do this, but I will go over the easiest way. Start by placing the following information inside a page, changing the filename as appropriate.
[[FILE:FirstLast.jpg]]
Also if you are using the character template, just change question.png to the full filename you desire.
Uploading the image
From there click the red link, to open up the file up-loader.
Select the image you wish to upload from your computer by utilizing the button in the picture below. Please note, do not utilize our bandwidth for outside sites. Pictures that are being used externally may be deleted without warning.
From there, hit upload.
Thats it, congratulations!
Updating a picture
Things change. Its a simple fact. So in order for the wiki to stay up-to-date, you need to know how to update your character's picture!
Opening the file
To do so, go to a page that contains the image that needs to be updated. Then simply click on the picture itself!
Upload the new image
Scroll down to the bottom of the page and you should find a link that says "Upload a new version of this file". Click that.
Then proceed to choose the file you wish to upload.
Then proceed to click upload file.
Congratulations! You have completed the tutorial!
